Unlike, say, gardening (the number one hobby in the US), we have many artists and designers who have taken their love of dolls and made this passion a profit-making endeavor. Whether you are repainting dolls for an auction, or reselling fashions and props you no longer need, you are in the business of developing customers and generating income.
With that in mind, we have a feature just for the new entrepreneur all about setting up shop. How do you begin a new company and what are some of the skills you need to get started? Do you know the most common talent all the successful doll designers have in common? We look at all the key steps you should take to get your business in order, so you can enjoy a popular and gratifying way to enjoy your love of dolls.
This issue also features an overview of some of our favorite businesses, whether they are small doll manufacturers, fashion designers or doll artists. Need an evening gown for Barbie? We can help! Looking for a beautifully constructed couch? We have got you covered! This list is eclectic and colorful and in no particular order. We asked our contributors to share with us who they go to for their shopping needs, so they are coming right from your fellow collectors. We are sure you will know many of these names, but it’s nice to see a large group all together that you can reference again and again.
We do understand that there are many, many more talented creators out there, and we welcome your input on which of these wonderful talents we should cover in upcoming issues. Please drop us a line if you know someone that the doll world should meet. We are always looking for fresh talent, as well as giving a shout out to the veterans who have given us dolls and fabulous fashions for many years

The "C-Grading System" is a system used by most dealers and appraisers to rate the condition of your Dolls and other Collectible items. Designations are C-1 through C-10. C-1 is the poorest possible condition. C-10 is factory mint and NRFB (never removed from box).
