These are ORIGINAL British Mk.IIIE Eyeshields as issued to British Troops in North Africa during WWII.  The eyeshields were intended to protect the eyes from the burning effects of vesicant gases, such as mustard gas.  The eyeshields were carried in the envelope pictured which was placed in the gas mask carrying bag.  Perhaps needless to say, the TWO eyeshields are in EXCELLENT, NEAR MINT and unused condition. One has minor paper residue on it, which can be removed with Goo-Gone solution. These eyeshields became famous in a way never anticipated by the British by association with Feldmarschall Erwin Rommel.  Although there are several anecdotes of how he came by them for wear with his schirmmutze, the fact remains he was photographed numerous times wearing them and they are currently in the museum dedicated to Rommel in Herrlingen, Germany.  Here's an opportunity for the collector to complete his gas mask by the addition of an essential accessory issued with gas masks.  Although I'm sure that the buyer will be pleased with these eyeshields, the buyer will have my usual unconditional guarantee of authenticity and satisfaction and a five-day right of inspection and return/refund privilege, excluding postage.
